Captured a shitload of Yo-pro footie on my last visit to Kjøttulf in Voss. Donated it to the Vinterveko festival crew and they used it both in their own edit, as well as in the one for the Norwegian National Broadcasting Conspiracy:
The "Vinterveko"-festival in Voss just went off, and me and Kjøttulf just had what may be our best ski day ever in a Norwegian ski hill. Myrkdalen is completely off the hook this year and it seems it is far from over yet. Keep dumping!

Tagged along beginning of last week when Kjetil aka Kjøttulf aka Kjøttleif aka Kjuttavika passed by the bone dry valley of hygge heading west for the drowning dark valley of pow. Vinterveko was appreoachin and we had to take responsibility and get the pow tracked up before the hordes came in to Voss. We got the job done, but it just kept on snowing so unfortunately we had to leave some first tracks for some of the others too this week.
The conditions in Myrkdalen are rediculous this season, with every tree under 2,5 meters hidden under the snow, and the normally quite tight treeskiing has become more or less unlimited. The measuring stick on top of the mtn is at close to three meters, but in the trees, where the wind has not taken the good away, it's probably way more. And the top layer is about one pole length of soft....
Had an awesome week. Now back in the valley of hygge to change some diapers and heal the bruised body. Some shots:
You know what that look means...
Kjøttflip
birdair
Pow cafe.
Hope to be back in the dark valley of pow a couple more times this season.
Even though the grass has been way greener on the other side of the mountain, since the west coast has been going off pretty much constantly since Christmas, it's now finally possible to start enjoying some pow on my home turf. Hemsedal has more or less been skunked by the gods this season, but now finally at least it's rideable, with something one can call a base on the mountain, at least parts of it.
Went out the other day and did some evening laps with my neighbour Thomas. After receiving about 30cm in total through the week until then, and maybe 50cm in total that last month.... not much to go spontanioulsy nealing down and thanking the heartless snowgods of this valley for, but at least enough to have a good day. Here is the vid:
The goods have been coming in on the west coast of Norway for weeks now and the snow conditions have been epic. Some of the days theese last weeks will be definitely be remembered for a while, in Voss at least, and go down in history as the legendary January 2011 pow days.... or something...
After a relatively slow start like normal here in Norway, the west coast, with the resorts in Stranda and Voss leading the way, got into good conditions as a Christmas present to those residing on the west coast, and those who were smart enough to pack their shit and get the hell over there:
Beeing camped in Hemsedal, mid way between east and west, I've been taking advantage of the relatively quick drive and gotten over there on short notice, after some first hand eyeball reports from trusted sources like my man Kjøttulf aka "Meatloaf" Isaksen, Sverre aka "Candy King" Hjørnevik and Benny The Kid aka "Bænny" Hjort.
Candyking approaching.
Norway, and especially the west coast, means changing weather, lots of wind and unpredictability. Lots of percipitation, that is good, but often as rain = not good. For a long time now though, it's been keeping cold though, so the snow has been building up into botomlessness, and mid January the pole in Myrkdalen marks about 2,5 meters, that is a great start of the winter:
Went to Africa in December (uups was a bad blogger again and skipped blogging that...) so this ski season started a bit late for me this year. But no worries, it always snows somewhere and the season is always as long as you want it to be, most people get tired of it before the pow melts anyway, and are well into the BBQing when some of us are still eating pow.
Folowing Are Tallak and Sverre Cornerbay in Myrkdalen
Been crusing piste and park in Hemsedal, where the snow came late too, and that's been chill, but it ain't really winter before the pow fest starts. Just about the time of year when Jesus popped out of his virgin mama's belly, Santa and the snow god got together to give large parts of Norway a great Christmas present. Many nice and not so nice grown up children have been enjoying the pow since then, and it's still snowing. We got it rediculously good in Myrkdalen, Voss, the other day, with quite rare conditions loking more like Japan than Norway. That means the pow season is on! Hope to keep the bigtrix updated!
Have been a real bad blogger this fall. I probably won't get any presents from blog-Santa... Gonna take it back when the shit hits the fan. The pow hits my face that is. That is after all what bigtrix.com is primarely about: the deep snow.
Warming up here with a copuple digital exposures of some stuff I've had published in print this fall. First of all just got a cover on last issue of Swedish ski mag Brant:
Also published a big guide to the goods in the Pacific North West (America) in Norwegian #1 action sport mag FriFlyt:
Here is even a little video clip from Revelstoke on that PNW trip I did with photographer Mikael Pilstrand. As you can see, quite good for December...:
Been an awesome summer with bascap in H-bay, Stad @the west cape of Norway. Obviously I've been keeping a low blogging profile... don't wanna have too much computer time when the sun is shining. And especially not when there is waves...
Don't wanna sit inside when it's like that out....
Must say it's been a good summer wave wise at Stad this year. At least the start of it was even better than this winter, from what those who had been there through the cold months. Never very big but decent surf pretty much every week in June July.
Mostly it was longboard days of course, but many real nice ones, like this mid summer evening with just me and Harrold Barreld in the water:
Lots of fishing and stuff in between the sessions of course. And hangin out with the kids. And when it was flat; tarpsurfing of course:
